About the Opportunity

William Clarke College is seeking a suitably qualified and Head of English to join our friendly staff team. Reporting to the Director of Teaching and Learning (7-12), you will lead your faculty to deliver quality teaching and learning experiences that speak to the core values of the College. You will provide staff leadership and oversee management of curriculum, programmes and faculty operations. You will engage with the College's Teaching and Learning priorities to develop learning through research-proven and emerging pedagogical practices.

This is a Permanent, Full-Time position commencing in 2026

About You

  • Record of excellence as a classroom practitioner with experience in teaching English courses across Stages 4, 5 and 6.
  • Demonstrated understanding of what quality learning looks like in the faculty and the classroom, and how to lead and equip teachers to achieve quality outcomes for students.
  • Professional flexibility, motivation and initiative
  • Highly developed interpersonal communication and emotional intelligence
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in challenging conversations and resolve issues proactively
  • Actively support the College's Christian ethos
  • Appropriate teaching qualifications and NESA accreditation
  • The successful candidate will be required to hold or be willing to obtain a valid Working with Children Check in accordance with Child Protection legislation
  • Regular practicing member of a Christian church
