Location: CharlestownFull-time Ongoing OpportunityGrade 4 - $121,845 p.a. + superannuation and annual leave loadingFlexible work practices including work from home, flexible working hours, 35-hour week and flex leave
Your role
The Occupational Therapist will be part of the LINKS team in Newcastle. Employing an evidence-based multi-disciplinary approach, the service seeks to decrease trauma symptoms and improve the well-being of a cohort of children/young people living in out of home care.
What you'll do
- Provide professional occupational therapy support to children and young people, to enable them to improve their quality of life and participation in the community.
- Provide occupational therapy supports including assessment, planning, intervention, program development, monitoring and review in line with relevant legislative, professional, and ethical requirements.
- Manage a caseload of children/young people and their families/ carers and measure the outcome of intervention strategies to ensure appropriate support is provided and positive outcomes are achieved for the person.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with public sector agencies, non-government organisations and community groups to facilitate a person-centred approach in developing and delivering intervention programs.
- Work collaboratively as a member of interdisciplinary and/ or trans-disciplinary teams and in partnership with other services to support planning, building team cohesiveness and resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate files and records in compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
- Participate in professional supervision and relevant development activities to ensure good practice standards in providing occupational therapy support to people with a range of needs.
- Contribute to quality assurance activities to ensure good practice standards of occupational therapy supports are provided to children and young people.
What we're looking for
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
- Strengths including a 'can-do' attitude, and being highly motivated
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Current driver's licence and willingness to drive

- Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
