About the role
Engineering Technologists will play a vital role in delivering accurate, reliable, and competitive estimates for electrical, mechanical, and plumbing projects. Combining technical expertise with practical industry knowledge, the role will interpret drawings, assess risks, and prepare detailed cost breakdowns that will help clients win work and meet deadlines. Skilled in applying engineering principles and innovative solutions, they will ensure every estimate is precise, efficient, and aligned with project goals. As trusted advisors, our Engineering Technologists will contribute to quality assurance and client success, making them an essential part of our commitment to excellence in professional estimating services.
About the position
Position: Engineering Technologist
Location of work: 10/62 Fallon Street, Brunswick, Vic - 3056
Employment Type: Permanent, Full time
Salary range: $80,000 to $90,000
Main Responsibilities:
o Design and develop HVAC equipment schedules, product schedules (grilles, dampers, ducts) and air schematics in accordance with relevant codes, NCC and company standards/briefs.
o Prepare and review technical documentation specifications, reports and drawings.
o Aid Concept design and drafting team with as built and shop drawing requests when required using AutoCAD/Revit software.
o Conduct site visits to gather project-specific dates and assess requirements.
o Take off HVAC equipment using Ground plan software
o Send out emails for requests for quotes (RFQ) or requests for information (RFI) for projects where required.
o Use specialized simPRO software to ensure accurate pricing and resource allocation
o Develop the QA checklist to ensure all designs and estimates align with client specifications and regulatory requirements.
o Prepare and submit competitive bids, ensuring alignment with client requirements and organizational goals.
o Evaluate and adjust project estimates as required, considering design updates and changes in technical specifications.
o Attending project meetings with clients.
o Assist clients in securing projects by providing Value management (VM) options, offering innovative and energy efficient solutions that provide a competitive edge over others.
o Assist clients with contract reviews, pricing variations, any contract administration work and assist in procurement.
o Provide technical support and guidance to clients and technicians.
o Whenever necessary, collaborate with client directors, project managers and engineers throughout the installation commissioning process, from the initial discussion to the final delivery of completed installation.
o Manage stakeholder relationships including suppliers and subcontractors, by using RFQs and RFIs and negotiating competitive pricing to support project objectives and ensure cost efficiency.
o Stay current with advancements in mechanical engineering technology and industry trends, incorporating them into project designs and estimates as necessary.
o Other duties as required.
Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
Relevant Bachelor degree in Engineering or higher and 3 years of relevant experience as Engineering Technologists.
