Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Gardening and Home Maintenance Support Worker to assist seniors in maintaining their homes and gardens in Mandurah, Western Australia. This part-time role is essential in promoting the well-being and independence of older individuals by providing support in gardening tasks, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for them. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community service and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for seniors.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist seniors with gardening tasks, including planting, weeding, lawn mowing, pruning, hedging, and other general garden maintenance tasks.
  • Provide support in basic Home Maintenance tasks, including window cleaning, gutter cleaning, changing light globes
  • Provide companionship and support to seniors while engaging in gardening and home maintenance activities.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of clients during gardening sessions.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their gardening preferences and needs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are safely stored.
  • Report any concerns regarding clients' health or safety to the appropriate personnel.

Highly regarded but not essential:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent.
  • experience in using powered gardening equipment
  • Experience supporting older people and seniors in community and home settings.
  • Experience working with people living with disability and complex needs.
  • Competency in using smartphones and mobile devices with internet access.
  • Commitment to quality care and a safety-first approach.
  • Understanding of professional boundaries, privacy, and confidentiality.
