About the Role:

We are excited to be announce that we have created a new graduate position within our dynamic and collaborative Legal Services Team at the University's Bentley Campus. 

This role offers an ambitious graduate the chance to gain real-world legal experience, work closely with highly skilled in-house lawyers, and accelerate their career in a supportive, forward-thinking environment. Join us full-time for 12 months and start building a legal career with purpose and impact.

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Assist the legal team to review and draft contracts, advice, policy, procedure and correspondence.
  • Conduct legal research.
  • Attend meetings and gain experience in a range of legal matters facing the university including in areas of property, procurement, research, teaching and learning, disputes, global contracts, intellectual property, work health & safety, risk, compliance and regulatory response.
  • Assist information disclosure compliance officer with freedom of information applications, subpoenas and orders to produce.
  • Prepare and organise materials for meetings, discipline panels and submissions to government.

Who we are looking for/Selection Criteria:  

  • Must be in the final year of your law degree or have recently graduated
  • Must have full working rights in Australia
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Contribute reliably to team as an independent and collaborative colleague
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Role Requirements: 

  1. As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
  2. Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin's satisfaction
