The Role

The Manual Machinist will:

• Use either any or all, of these machines; Centre Lathe, Universal Mill, Surface Grinder, Column Drill and Bench Drill.
• Able to machine components to finished sizes using the raw material supplied while referring to their individual engineering drawing.
• Be an organized person that is willing keep their workspace safe and tidy by cleaning up afterwards.
• Submit requests for damaged or worn out tooling and willing to follow up on status of order request.
• Enter and maintain inventory records and data as required to support all crib processes.
• Inspect and measure tools and equipment for defects and wear. Report damage or wear to supervisors.
• Repair, service and lubricate tools and equipment.
• Mark and identify tools and equipment.
• Maintain overall organization of tool crib area. Create, maintain, and label all inventory bin locations in crib cabinets and storage units.
• Other duties as required.

Your experience and qualifications

• Tradesperson with a minimum of 5 years' experience after finishing your apprenticeship in a Manual Machining Environment.
• Good communications skills
• Experience in machining various grades of materials such as, Steel, Stainless Steel, Cast Iron, Ductile Iron, Aluminum, Bronze & Engineered Plastics. To Engineered Sizes, Fits and Tolerances in either Metric or Imperial dimensions.
• Specific knowledge of cutting tools with an understanding of the different types of tools used in a production machining environment.
