Yass High School, located approximately 50 km from the ACT in a rapidly growing rural area of NSW. The school serves a diverse community with approximately 585 students. The school has 4 Support classes along with an established Pathways Class for Stage 5 students interested in trade careers. The school has an enrolled ATSI student population of 10%. The percentage of students with an EAL/D is also steadily increasing due to new families moving into the community.
The school offers a broad curriculum that prepares students for higher education and skill-based careers, supported by strong partnerships with local businesses. The school emphasises all four domains of HPGE through a variety of intellectual, sporting, cultural and creative programs.

Selection CriteriaApproval to teach English (Years 7–12), including English Extension 1 and Extension 2, and History
Demonstrated ability to design and deliver engaging, differentiated English teaching and learning programs across Stages 4–6, aligned with NSW syllabuses, that cater for diverse learning needs and promote high expectations for all students.
Proven capacity to implement evidence-based pedagogy and embed explicit literacy and language strategies across English, to improve student outcomes in the development of written, spoken, visual, and multimodal texts.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to foster positive, collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the wider community to support student engagement, wellbeing, and learning outcomes.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
