Melbourne City Centre, Victoria, Australia Victorian Government - Department of Health Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

About the role:

The Intelligence and Risk Monitoring Support Officer plays a key role in supporting the delivery of Safer Care Victoria's safety intelligence and risk monitoring functions. The role contributes to identifying emerging safety issues, supporting structured system monitoring, and generating insights that inform proactive responses to risks across the Victorian health system.

Working under the guidance of the Manager, Intelligence and Risk Monitoring, the role provides project coordination, data preparation and documentation, and contributes to the delivery of analytics and monitoring workflows. The Support Officer works collaboratively with team members across the intelligence and risk stream including analysts, epidemiologists, and coordinators to ensure timely and accurate outputs that support safety signal detection, predictive modelling, and risk escalation.

The role also assists in liaising with stakeholders across Safer Care Victoria, the Department of Health, and the broader health system to support the integration of insights into safety improvement activities. This includes providing logistical and administrative support for system reviews, safety alerts, or targeted monitoring initiatives.

About us:

At the Victorian Department of Health we want a future where Victorians are the healthiest people in the world. A Victoria where our children and people thrive, our workplaces are productive and safe, and our communities are more connected.

We see it as our job to support Victorians to stay healthy and safe. And to deliver a world-class healthcare system that ensures every single Victorian can access safe, quality care that leads to better health outcomes for all.

About you:

  • A relevant qualification in Health Administration, Public Health, Safety Science, Behavioural Science, or a related discipline is desirable.
  • Equivalent professional experience supporting the coordination of safety and quality priorities or health system activities would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of, or interest in learning about, the Victorian health system and its safety and quality improvement priorities.
  • Experience supporting the coordination, documentation, or delivery of data-informed projects, monitoring activities, or risk-related processes in health, government, or similarly complex environments.
  • Ability to collate, organise, and communicate information clearly and accurately, including risk logs, reports, dashboards, and briefing materials.
  • Awareness of, or willingness to develop knowledge in, safety monitoring approaches such as signal detection, early warning systems, and systems thinking methodologies (training will be provided).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and support multidisciplinary teams working in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and capable of using collaboration and data tools such as Power BI, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Strong attention to detail, professional written communication, and a commitment to accuracy in recordkeeping, documentation, and reporting.

What we offer:

  • The opportunity to perform meaningful work, making direct contributions toward enabling Victorians to be the healthiest people in the world.
  • A wide range of growth and development opportunities within the department and wider Victorian Public Service & Sector.
  • A strong commitment to work-life balance, including a diverse array of flexible working arrangements.
