About The Opportunity
The Greater Geelong and Borough of Queenscliff (GGQ) Local Mental Health and Wellbeing Service is delivered by a consortium of equal partners: Barwon Health, Wathaurong Aboriginal Cooperative Ltd, Wellways Australia and Erhma365. As our new
Mental Health & Alcohol and Other Drug (MH&AOD) Support Worker
, you will provide tailored support to program participants, enabling them, their families, and carers to address psychosocial, emotional, and alcohol and other drug-related needs. In this role, you will walk alongside participants throughout their journey in the program; from the initial conversation and support planning, through to delivering 1:1 therapeutic psychosocial interventions, education, and AOD support. You will play a vital role in ensuring participants, carers, and their families receive compassionate, meaningful, and effective care every step of the way.

About You
You're empathetic and relish opportunities to make meaningful difference in the lives of people in our community. You will also have the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, including alongside team members who have lived and living experience of mental health challenges or as carers of loved ones who do.

We are looking for new team members with availability to join us 7 days a fortnight, Monday through to Sunday, across a rotating roster inclusive of morning, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts as well as public holidays from 11am – 7pm.

Penalty rates will apply for relevant hours worked.
You will need:

  • Relevant degree and experience or Associate Diploma with substantial experience, in the field of study of, Psychology, Behavioral Science, Community Services and Social Welfare, or less formal qualifications with specialized skills sufficient to perform at this level
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia
  • Current full driver licence
  • National Police Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • NDIS Workers Screening check
  • International Police Check (if relevant)
  • NDIS Workers Orientation module certificate – free online course
