Principal / Staff Software Engineer
Melbourne-based (2 days per week in office / 3x days from home)
Our Melbourne based client is looking for a Lead Engineer to help design and deliver scalable, cloud-based systems that serve millions of users globally.
You'll be joining a high-performing engineering team working on complex, distributed systems using modern practices & technologies.
In this role, you'll take technical ownership across multiple projects, lead design discussions, and guide engineers (approx. 4 engineers) through challenging problems—driving best practices, quality, and delivery excellence. Your role will be approx. 50/50 hands on the tools (e.g. .Net code reviews or when challenges come up) and look after the architecture and direction of multiple streams.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Strong commercial experience with .NET Core / C# and IoC/DI frameworks
- Solid understanding of event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS EventBridge or similar)
- Knowledge of distributed caching (Redis, Memcached, etc.)
- Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Octopus, Jenkins, etc.)
- Expertise in AWS and building scalable, resilient cloud infrastructure
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
- Very strong communication skills: We need someone who can lead from the front, who brings strong influencing skills, working with challenging and global stakeholders.

- Salary: $200,000 total package + Bonus which starts at 15%. ** For the right candidate this can be flexible.
