We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and motivated Kitchen Hand / Cook to join our restaurant team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. This role involves supporting the kitchen team with food preparation, cooking, cleaning, and maintaining high hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

  • Assist with daily food preparation, including chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients.
  • Cook dishes according to the restaurant's recipes, standards, and presentation guidelines.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and timely delivery of meals during service.
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene procedures.

Kitchen Operations & Cleaning

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment as required.
  • Clean food preparation areas, benches, floors, and appliances.
  • Properly store food items and maintain stock rotation (FIFO).

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work closely with chefs and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
  • Communicate any issues with stock, equipment, or safety to the kitchen manager or head chef.
  • Assist in receiving and storing deliveries when needed.

Skills & Requirements

  • Previous experience as a kitchen hand or cook (preferred but not essential).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Understanding of basic food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 25 per week
