About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for an Asset Officer to work as part of the Southern Ranges Infrastructure Program team that contributes towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.
The Southern Ranges Branch is currently seeking to appoint an Asset Officer. You will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to support strategic programs for the life cycle management of existing and future assets. As an Asset Officer, you will support the Senior Asset Officer and wider Branch with asset management, asset condition monitoring and assessments and other fixed asset projects across the national parks and reserves of the branch. Use of the NPWS Asset Management System will be a key part of this role.
About you
To be successful for this role, you will be highly motivated and an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing and possess working experience in a similar role, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders. You thrive being a team player who is proactive and demonstrates initiative at every opportunity.
- Asset management experience and strong project management skills are essential
- Experience supporting the development of asset management capability through the establishment and implementation of asset management principles and consistent use of systems.
- Experience in the use and development of an Asset Management System to improve the quality of data and consistent use state-wide.
- Experience in delivering training, supporting staff and promoting the use of an Asset Management System and software interfaces.
- Experience in analysing and updating data using spatial and database tools.
Essential requirements
- Demonstrated experience in asset management frameworks and systems including program supervision, coordination and data management
- Demonstrated experience liaising with and coordinating staff or contractors undertaking asset maintenance and construction activities.
- Knowledge of and experience in the application of construction codes, safe work practices and risk management in the construction and maintenance of facilities and infrastructure.
- Demonstrated understanding of financial reporting requirements for capital projects as well as an understanding of risk management principles as they apply to maintenance and construction of infrastructure and assets.
- Understanding of the legislation applying to protected area management, contract management, Workplace Health and Safety, construction standards and environmental planning.
- A current Australian driver's licence.
