The i.am program is a one of its kind, award winning psychosocial mental health program co-produced with young people with lived experience of suicidality. About the Role

The Clinical Lead provides leadership that facilitates the ongoing development of clinical practice and is responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and review of the clinical governance framework. The role involves providing high level clinical consultation and advice to clinicians (both salaried and contracted staff) to build capacity and ensure the delivery of high quality youth mental health.

The Clinical Lead will provide clinical supervision, and is actively involved in quality projects and working with other services and partners in the community. The position will also provide high level advice to support strategic and operational planning for the clinical services.

The successful applicant will become a key staff member within the headspace leadership team. Key relationships include youth access clinicians, Psychologists, Social Workers, General Practitioners and government and non-government service providers.

The Clinical Lead role presents an excellent next step for a senior clinician interested in taking on a leadership role that utilises their clinical knowledge and experience.

What you need to have:

  • Recognised tertiary qualification in Clinical Psychology, Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy or other relevant field.
  • Full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) or eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Post-qualifying experience, including demonstrated experience and in depth understanding of therapeutic modalities, mental health assessment and practice relevant to young people (aged years).
  • Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to crisis and high-risk situations, when required.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with young people, family members and carers seeking help in a non judgmental manner
  • Demonstrated experience working with young people with mental health and related problems including substance abuse, physical health, and vocational/educational problems.
  • Demonstrated experience providing supervision, for staff and/or students.
  • Current Police Check (not older than 3 months)
  • NDIS Worker Check and NSW Working with Children Check
  • Valid NSW drivers licence, with ability to drive vehicles in licence C class
