The Opportunity – Risk & Compliance Adviser

As a Risk & Compliance Adviser within the Group Risk & Compliance Division, you will be responsible for supporting the operation, effectiveness and continuous improvement of the enterprise risk and compliance management frameworks and associated procedures across the business. You will work closely with the Senior Risk & Compliance Advisor, as well as the Squad Lead, Risk & Compliance.

How you will create value

In this broad ranging and crucial role, you will utilise your Risk & Compliance experience to add value to Medibank by:

  • Supporting the implementation of the Risk Management Strategy across the business to ensure risk is managed within Board approved risk appetite.
  • Building strong relationships with business areas across Medibank, to position the Division as a trusted and reliable source of support and advice.
  • Communicating the risk and compliance management frameworks and processes to key stakeholders and business units.
  • Monitoring and report on the effectiveness of the Compliance Management Framework and other compliance activities.
  • Supporting the embedding of better risk and compliance management practices and elevate risk and compliance management as a part of Medibank's culture.
  • Assisting the implementation of improvement opportunities to the policies, frameworks and procedures across the business.
  • Actively contributing to the operational effectiveness of the risk and compliance community of practice, including the promotion of the role, contribution and relevance of the Line 2 team.
  • Undertake ongoing monitoring of compliance with risk management processes.
  • Monitor, oversee and analyse incidents identified and management by the first line to identify trends and opportunities to strengthen the control environment.
  • Undertake ongoing monitoring of adherence to the Risk Management Framework and Compliance Management Framework and their relevant processes.
  • Support the delivery of formal risk training as part of the Learning & Development framework.

About you

You have proven experience in a Risk Management or Compliance role, particularly in a large, regulated environment such as the Banking, Financial Services or Insurance industries.

Other key experience includes:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Risk Management or Compliance role within a regulated environment.
  • Fundamental knowledge and practical experience of operational risk and compliance frameworks, methodologies, management and control techniques is essential.
  • Analytical skills to interpret and present complex technical information.
  • Experience in designing, implementing and using operational risk and compliance tools and methodologies.
