About the role
Northern Midlands Council is seeking qualified and dedicated Pool Lifeguards to join our team in Cressy, Campbell Town, and Ross in Tasmania. In this casual role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and enjoyment of visitors to our local aquatic facilities during our open dates from December to March. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a community-focused environment and contribute to the local community.
What you'll be doing
- Actively monitor the pool area and promptly respond to any incidents or emergencies
- Provide excellent customer service and assist pool patrons with any queries or concerns
- Perform regular pool tests and maintain accurate records of water quality and chemical levels
- Assist with the general cleaning tasks at the pool facility
- Adhere to all relevant health and safety policies and procedures
Daily shifts are from 12.45pm to 6pm on weekends and school holidays, and from 3pm to 6pm on weekdays during school term. We don't operate the pools in poor weather so the requirements may vary.
What we're looking for
- Current RLSA Pool Lifeguard qualification (or ability to obtain)
- Working with Vulnerable People Employee Check (Essential)
- Strong swimming skills and the ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A passion for promoting health, safety and community wellbeing
Council will provide training in the RLSA Pool Lifeguard Qualification at no expense to successful applicants.
What we offer
This is a casual role offered at the hourly rate of $ per hour, plus 13.5% SGC. This rate is inclusive of a casual loading of 25%.

As part of our community services for families and children in the area, the council operates 3 aquatic centres in the Northern midlands, in Cressy, Campbell Town, and Ross communities. Applicants can choose to apply for work only at specific centres, or at all locations.
