About the role
We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work and is passionate about making an impact in our communities. As a member of our Home and Community Care team, you will deliver scheduled home maintenance and home gardening services and support the safety of our participant's homes and surroundings. You will work autonomously delivering exceptional experiences for our participants. We provide you with a steady stream of clients and all the tools and equipment you will need.
What does a "day in the life" look like?
- Perform lawn maintenance including mowing, edging, brush cutting and weeding (both hand pulling and spraying)
- Clear and remove green debris
- Conduct light pruning and trimming of hedges and small trees
- Conduct repairs or maintenance of the garden or home to improve safety, accessibility and independence within the home environment
Conduct working at height related repairs or cleaning for participant health and safety i.e. within the home – clean interior windows ceiling fans, air-conditioners, bathroom exhaust fans and other high access items including overhead cupboards; and outside the home – clear gutters, clean exterior windows, pressure washing
Repair of external access pathways to address slip and trip hazards and access issues
Other things you might like to know
- Minimum 20 hours per week with increased hours likely
- Availability to work Monday to Friday
- Some travel required to participant homes across Wide Bay (such as Childers, Gin Gin) using a Comlink vehicle and trailer stocked with all required equipment
- You may be required to complete a pre-employment medical to demonstrate fitness for work
- Paid compliance checks offered including NDIS Worker Screening
- You will require a First Aid and CPR certificate & Construction Induction
What you'll bring
- Relevant and recent experience working in home and garden services
- Excellent communication skills, resilience, patience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Physical fitness
- High organisational skills, reliability, efficiency and can manage your time well
- Competency operating a vehicle while towing an equipment trailer
- Experience working in an aged care environment is desirable but not essential
