Treatment Plant Operator

About the role

Banana Shire Council is seeking a full-time Treatment Plant Operator to join our team in Moura, QLD. As the Treatment Plant Operator, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of our water and wastewater treatment facilities, contributing to the overall health and well-being of our local community.

What you'll be doing

Monitoring and maintaining the performance of water and wastewater treatment plants, including chemical dosing, equipment inspections, and general housekeeping

Conducting regular sampling and testing to ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and standards

Troubleshooting any issues or malfunctions that may arise and taking appropriate corrective actions

Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on treatment plant equipment and infrastructure

Maintaining detailed records and reports on plant operations, process data, and any incidents or issues

Collaborating with the wider operations team to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities

What we're looking for

Current class 'C' driver licence is required for this position

Relevant qualifications in water/wastewater treatment or a related field, such as a Certificate III in Water Industry Operations

Demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of water and/or wastewater treatment plants

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve technical issues

Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills

A commitment to workplace health and safety and environmental sustainability

A positive, collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
