We are recruiting Home Care Support Workers/ Carers / Enrolled and Registered Nurses, to take care of an elderly client at his home in Glenelg North.

A little about the client:

  • Elderly gentleman
  • Speech, hearing and vision impairments
  • Unsteady on feet when walking or standing
  • On modified diet and thickened fluids

Duties include:

  • Medication Management
  • Diabetes Management
  • Wound management
  • Check vital signs and relevant assessment
  • Personal hygiene - fully assist with showering, dressing, and undressing
  • Encourage and assist with daily exercise
  • Toileting and incontinent management
  • Physical assistance by 1 x person with mobility and transferring
  • Feeding, modified diet and thickened fluids preparation
  • Exercises including whole body, speech, and breathing
  • Encourage social activities, chatting and spending time with the client

What we offer:

  • We are a small, friendly and supportive team
  • Workplace is mainly in client's home
  • We are looking for morning, afternoon and night shift workers with regular shift hours rostered - hours can be negotiated to suit your needs; from one shift per fortnight up to full-time hours with permanent positions available
  • Fully paid training provided, including; comprehensive induction, detailed care plan and duty list
  • Training will be provided on shifts with the RN present - you won't be allocated to a shift on your own until you feel comfortable and confident
  • RN is on call 24/7 to provide you with support
  • Communication with the RN is encouraged, either; in person, via email or phone for any questions, debriefing or just simply to catch-up - we understand it can sometimes be a little overwhelming to start in a new position, especially on your own, so we are conscious of providing the necessary support to you, as we do to all of our staff
  • Pay rate negotiable, with conditions of employment based on the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Industrial Service Award 2010; dependent on skills and experience

Who you will be:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in aged care or similar field preferred; with both Overseas and Australian nursing or caring experience to be considered
  • Pleasant nature, always bringing a positive attitude to work
  • Genuine care and respect for the elderly
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Great attitude towards learning and adapting to client's routine and care needs
  • Always mindful of the client's and your safety, as a top priority

Qualifications and Other Requirements:

  • Minimum of Certificate III in aged care, disability, community or relevant area
  • Experience in aged care or similar areas (desirable), however full training will be provided
  • Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and Flu (evidence required)
  • National Police Clearance certificate (within 12 months, evidence required)
  • CPR, medication competency and manual handling certificates (evidence required)
  • If successful at Interview stage, a pre-employment medical is required (paid for by Employer)
