Maintenance Supervisor

About the Role

Bowen Rail Company is growing, and we are seeking an experience Maintenance Supervisor – Mechanised Maintenance to join our Track and Civil team. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager – Track and Civil, in this role you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and timely delivery of mechanised maintenance strategies including track resurfacing, ballasting, ballast cleaning, rail grinding and other similar programs the Carmichael Rail Network. This role will require you to travel across the network and stay in camp accommodation.

• Promote and maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following guidelines, standards, codes and procedures ensuring that work groups and rail safety workers are provided with inductions and adequate training
• Provide consistent and effective supervision of rail safety workers, work groups including maintenance partners and suppliers
• Provide supervision to ensure all activities within the track Technical Maintenance Plan (TMP) and Asset Management Strategies are undertaken safely and to a high standard
• Ensure that all rolling stock (including Carmichael Rail Network owned), plant and equipment utilised for mechanised maintenance works is maintained, compliant and registered to operate on the Carmichael Rail Network
• Support effective administration through implementation of processes with accurate and timely submission of information as requested
• Coordinate in-field activities such as deliveries and prestart briefings/ depot activities including stores and supplies
• Provide input into short-, medium- and long-term planning activities / CAPEX upgrading/ planning shutdowns
• Liaise with maintenance stakeholders and escalate any issues
• Procure materials and equipment in addition to obtaining necessary permits as requested
• Monitor safety and budgetary goals and report any workplace incidents, anomalies or non-compliance to managers
• Conduct quality inspections at critical phases and report any non-conformances
• Contribute information to strategic plans and reviews to meet operational standards.

About You

Essential

• 5+ years' experience in rail maintenance/construction or related industry
• SARC - Safely Access the Rail Corridor (Nationally Accredited) – or ability to obtain
• General Construction Induction – or ability to obtain
• Current Open 'C' Class Drivers License
• Experience in leading teams, with exceptional communication and ability to coach, develop, and mentor employees to drive engagement and capability
• Knowledge of maintenance and servicing
• Knowledge of rail safety standards, rules, and procedures
• Ability to read and interpret maintenance documents including manuals and drawings
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail and ability to prioritise deadlines.
• Effective time management and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

• Mechanical or Electrical trade qualified
• Qualifications in a related rail discipline. (i.e. Certificate II/III in Rail Infrastructure)
• Qualified as a rail Protection Officer (PO)
• Experience with mechanised rail equipment.
