Expression Of Interest: APS6 Specialist Investigator
3 days ago
Location: Canberra, ACT Classification: APS 6 (Labour Hire/non-ongoing) Engagement: Contract (6-12 Months) Clearance: Minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) Required. Possibility of extenion.
About the RoleWe are seeking a dedicated and highly-experienced Specialist Investigator to join a small, high-performing integrity function within a key Commonwealth Agency. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to sensitive, high-level criminal investigation and compliance work. The work is crucial to maintaining the integrity of programs that directly impact First Nations communities.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesAs an Investigator, you will apply your senior expertise to a challenging caseload:
- Lead and conduct complex, high-quality criminal investigations in accordance with the Australian Government Investigation Standards (AGIS).
- Prepare detailed, evidence-based reports and briefs of evidence suitable for submission to legal bodies.
- Liaise and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders, including other Commonwealth and State/Territory agencies.
- Apply expert knowledge of criminal law and procedure in the conduct of investigations (fraud specialisation highly regarded).
- Proactively seek to operate at the highest standards of professional conduct, probity, and integrity.
This role has strict mandatory requirements due to its specialist nature. Only candidates who meet the following criteria will be considered:
- Mandatory Clearance: Must hold an active Australian Government security clearance of Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) or higher. Candidates with a Baseline clearance may be considered if exceptionally strong, with the understanding an upgrade will be required. No clearance, no consideration.
- Mandatory Experience: A minimum of five (5) years demonstrable experience in criminal investigation (non-regulatory matters).
- Mandatory Background: Possess extensive experience as an investigator from a policing background or as a Commonwealth Criminal Investigator.
- Mandatory Qualification: Proven expertise and formal training as a criminal or fraud investigator, with current knowledge and demonstrable compliance with the Australian Government Investigation Standards (AGIS).
- Essential: Demonstrate a high level of cultural competence and proven experience in effectively engaging, liaising, and working with First Nations people and communities in a sensitive and respectful manner. This is a non-negotiable requirement for the role.
Due to the extremely niche and specialist nature of this requirement, please only apply if you meet all of the above mandatory criteria.
At Randstad, we are passionate about providing equal employment opportunities and embracing diversity to the benefit of all. We actively encourage applications from any background.
