About Us

The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people's homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).

In this role you will provide a high level of clinical consultation and education to NBMLHD staff, detailing risk assessments, safety planning, and clinical responses for individuals experiencing domestic violence. You will represent NBMLHD in collaboration with senior staff, contributing to strategic initiatives and always improving our service.

What you will bring to the role
- Social Worker: Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Counsellor: Qualification with ACA L3-4 registration (Australian Counselling Association) or PACFA Clinical Registrant status (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia) Senior Psychologist: Registered Psychologist with current APHRA registration who is eligible for grading as a Senior Psychologist (one year full equivalent at the 9th year of service and thereafter on the salary scale) Clinical or Forensic Psychologist: Accredited post-graduate master's or doctorate degree in clinical or forensic psychology and general registration as a psychologist with AHPRA
- Demonstrated high level skills, experience and use of high-level professional judgement in clinical practice, with a specialised focus on providing responses to victims of Domestic and Family Violence (adults and children). Knowledge of Health service delivery and referral options for these clients, including the broader legislative and policy context.
- Demonstrated advanced understanding of the dynamics and effects of Domestic Violence victims (adults and children). Best practice principles for reducing Domestic Violence with both the victim and the person causing harm. Sound understanding of trauma informed principles.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal direct supervision. Ability to plan, implement, evaluate and report on services, and high level knowledge/experience of quality management and leadership processes.
- Demonstrated experience in providing case management and clinical supervision in a clinical setting, and demonstrated ability to apply professional knowledge and judgement when performing novel, complex or critical tasks.
- Proven ability working with a high level of cultural competence with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people from a range of socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Proven excellent interpersonal communication and networking skills, including in the verbal and written form. Proven ability to build effective partnership with other relevant government, non-government, and community organisations.
- Current drivers licence and willingness to use for the work purpose travel.
