We're seeking an industry-recognised
Technical Director
—a respected expert with deep technical capability, strong industry presence, and a passion for developing people—to drive the strategic, commercial and technical success of our business.

As a Technical Director, you'll play a pivotal role in
winning work, delivering excellence, and building capability
across the organisation. You'll influence market strategy, grow client relationships, uplift our technical standards, and mentor the next generation of engineers—all while contributing to a culture defined by care, respect, accountability, and collaboration.

The Opportunity

In this senior leadership position, you will:

Win Work & Shape Strategy

  • Influence business planning by identifying growth markets, emerging technologies, and strategic opportunities.
  • Promote Middleton Group's technical leadership through presentations, technical papers, and active industry engagement.
  • Lead client discussions, shape scopes of work, identify opportunities, and guide bid strategies to ensure confident, high-quality proposals.

Deliver Exceptional Outcomes

  • Take accountability for the success, quality, and certification standards of assigned projects (CPEng, RPEV, RPEQ).
  • Ensure commercial performance through effective project controls, budgeting, and resourcing.
  • Guide resource planning and ensure teams are equipped with the right people, tools, and technical insight.
  • Champion client satisfaction—ensuring our clients love working with us.

Develop People & Build Capability

  • Grow technical depth across the business, ensuring our skills remain industry-leading and future-facing.
  • Mentor and coach engineers, supporting long-term professional development, competency growth, and career progression.
  • Play a key role in succession planning by developing emerging technical leaders.
  • Identify technical gaps and work with Team Leads on recruitment, resourcing, and training strategies.
  • Elevate our market presence by supporting speaking opportunities, LinkedIn content, conferences, and thought leadership initiatives.

About You

You're a seasoned technical specialist with the credibility to influence at all levels—clients, teams, industry bodies, and peers. You bring:

Technical & Professional Expertise

  • Degree qualification in
    Electrical
    or
    Civil/Structural Engineering
    .
  • Approximately
    15+ years' experience
    delivering major or complex engineering projects.
  • A track record of innovation, cross-disciplinary technical strength, and contributions to industry best practice.
  • Strong skills in project management, contract management, design leadership and commercial performance.
