Job Description

On behalf of our client Avon Community Services, we are advertising for Youth Worker to join their team based in Merredin, WA. This position works closely and collaboratively with other staff, stakeholders, volunteers and young people under the direction of the Team Leader Youth Services, to ensure that young people in Merredin are provided with opportunities and support to: make positive connections; contribute and build on their strengths to achieve individual and collective goals; make informed and healthy choices that support wellbeing and resilience. Key Responsibilities:

1. Maintaining a welcoming, inclusive and safe space for young people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural safety for Aboriginal young people. 2. The day-to-day running of the youth space in line with all Avon Community Services' policies and procedures, including child safe standards, confidentiality and health and safety requirements. 3. Overseeing the induction and supervision of approved local volunteers and/or students on placement.

4. Developing and maintaining networks and partnerships with key local community organisations, government agencies and schools to: facilitate information and referrals; advocate for young people; and assist in the development of projects which strengthen positive community outcomes in line with Avon Community Services' strategic priorities. 5. Planning and delivering engaging programs and projects with and for young people using a strengths-based, youth participation approach. 6. Delivering effective educational programs on topics such as sexual health and the harms associated with alcohol, tobacco and drug use.

7. Mentoring and/or providing individual support to young people, including through case management. 8. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate client records, including consent forms, case management plans, risk management plans and case notes. 9. Meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and reporting requirements in a professional and timely manner.

10. Behaving in accordance with organisational values, code of conduct and contributing to a positive team culture. 11. Carrying out other tasks as required by the Team Leader/ Chief Executive Officer. Selection Criteria:

1. Completion of (or commitment to obtain) qualifications in Youth Work, Community Services, Community Development qualification or similar. 2. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to build and maintain rapport and trust, facilitate groups/programs and work effectively with a range of stakeholders.

3. Knowledge or experience in the development of risk plans, case management plans, case plan reviews, case notes. 4. Understanding of youth participation principles and practices and/or experience in project planning and implementation. 5. Demonstrated ability to follow organisational policies and procedures.

6. Demonstrated reliability to work autonomously and without direct supervision. 7. Demonstrated written communication skills, including computer skills and attention to detail, to enable the preparation of routine correspondence and reports. 8. Flexibility and demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.

9. Good time management skills and high standards of personal work organization. Location: Merredin Salary: $73,150+super
