The Opportunity
To support the ALBI build, NACE is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Data Governance & Quality Lead to design, implement, and optimise data processes and governance frameworks for this transformative initiative. This position is the vital bridge between clinical and technical domains—ensuring that data pipelines deliver clinically meaningful, high-quality, and ethically governed data to support research and innovation in allergy and immunology.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with systems engineers, data specialists, and cloud infrastructure experts to translate complex clinical and research requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions. You'll bring together expertise in health informatics, data engineering, and clinical data management to build the foundations of ALBI's data infrastructure—enabling high-impact, evidence-based research.
About Your New Team
The National Allergy Centre of Excellence (NACE) is establishing the Allergy BioRepository (ALBI) — a groundbreaking national resource developed in collaboration with leading allergy and digital health experts. Led by Professor Kirsten Perrett, NACE Director and Group Leader of MCRI's Population Allergy Group, and Professor Janet Davies, Head of the Allergy Research Group at QUT, ALBI will drive discoveries to better understand, prevent, and treat allergies, alleviating their growing impact on the community.
Your Responsibilities Include
- Develop and implement comprehensive data quality rules, validation frameworks, and conformance assessment protocols to ensure data integrity across all pipelines
- Establish and maintain data lineage and provenance tracking systems for transparency, traceability, and auditability
- Ensure compliance with ethical, privacy, and governance frameworks relevant to clinical and research daa
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including data dictionaries, SOPs, and user guidance
- Support the design and implementation of data pipelines that transform raw data into clinically meaningful, research-ready dataset
- Conduct data analytics and validation, including reviewing outputs from ML/AI tools for clinical validity and reliability
What We Need From You
- Master's qualification in Health Informatics, Data Science/Engineering, Bioinformatics or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience managing clinical or research datasets within healthcare or biomedical research environments
- Strong technical proficiency in Python for data processing, transformation, and analysis
- Proven expertise in applying industry data standards such as OMOP, CDISC, or HL7 FHIR
- Experience designing and implementing data quality frameworks and validation processes
