The rTMS Nurse will be responsible for coordinating Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation treatment delivery, supporting the senior research team with participant recruitment, management, and information dissemination, conduct interviews and assessments, collect, and record accurate study data, as well as support ethics applications and the writing of scientific articles.

Candidates must:


• Be flexible with working days and hours – willing to work outside normal office hours, when needed.


• Have access to their own transport and be willing to travel between sites and to other locations.


• Be willing to travel within Australia for the purposes of collaboration

This role is offered on a part-time (0.5 FTE) fixed term basis (12-month initial contract with the possibility of extension), worked as 5 half days per week.

Key Responsibilities


• Administering and explaining rTMS and other non-invasive brain stimulation treatments to research patients, primarily those with chronic depression.


• Communicating clearly and effectively what the treatment is and what it does, to patients with mental health conditions and their family members and healthcare providers.


• Assisting with managing patient treatment schedules , clinical records and case notes.


• Contribute to data collection (i.e., administering psychometric and other clinical or cognitive assessments), data entry and data checking.


• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with clinical teams and other stakeholders.


• Assess and effectively manage patients who may be at risk according to clinic policy and duty of care procedures.


• Active participation in the communication and dissemination of research where appropriate.

Skills and Experience


• Diploma or bachelor's degree in nursing (previous experience in mental health would be highly regarded).


• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Enrolled or Registered Nurse.


• rTMS and GCP certifications, or willing to undertake the required training obtain these qualifications.


• An interest or experience working in youth mental health.


• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective research collaboration and engagement.


• Demonstrated ability to apply quantitative/qualitative research methodologies.


• Well-developed organisation and time management skills.


• Experience in clinical trial and/or multisite research studies and recruitment.
