About the Role
As a member of the
Security Operations team
within the Cyber Security space which is the first line of defence in protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Cbus' information assets and IT resources. Reporting to the Security Operations Manager, you will
provide daily operational support
to information security processes. A self-motivated problem solver with a desire to identify issues and formulate solutions that reduce risk and align with the organisation's security strategies will be an ideal candidate.
Key Accountabilities:
- Analyse data output of
security monitoring tools
and proactively drives appropriate security measures to protect enterprise assets and end users. - Respond to
security threats
and
alerts
, investigate and/or escalate issues to management as needed. - Manage vulnerability
and
patching processes
according to risk policies. - Conduct security operations such as firewall rule assessments, vulnerability scans, web access exceptions, and incident response.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of cyber security threats, vulnerabilities, practices, principles and solutions.
- Assist in process improvement to strengthen the current security operations framework review policies and highlight the challenges in managing SLAs.
- Support audits and assessments by providing evidence and assisting with vulnerability and penetration testing activities.
About You
You have a strong foundation in cybersecurity, supported by
practical experience
from a Security Operations role. This role suits someone who's confident translating technical concepts into clear visuals using tools like Microsoft Visio. You're experienced in working across cross-functional teams, contributing to enterprise-wide initiatives, and engaging stakeholders to drive outcomes. A global mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively across cultures round out your strengths.
Your Skills & Experience
- Experience with
Secure DevOps practices
, SIEM use case development, and
infrastructure as code
concepts. - Skilled in documenting and improving processes and procedures to support operational effectiveness.
- Experience developing and managing enterprise-level
application whitelisting policies
, including rule creation and ongoing maintenance. - Familiar with
network protocols
(TCP/IP), routing (IGRP,BGP, OSPF), SDWAN troubleshooting and network-related security remediations - Experience with
NextGen Firewalls
(Palo Alto),
VPN technologies
, Aruba ClearPass or Airwave is desirable. - Proficient in Microsoft, UNIX, and Linux OS, with the ability to efficiently review, correlate and parse log files to automate log analysis using scripting languages.
