ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking Disability Support Workers to provide in-home and community-based support to neurodivergent individuals across the Greater Brisbane Area. Our mission is to empower agency and autonomy; support workers work directly with participants to build skills and progress towards goals.

At Valiant Support, we provide two main types of support:

COMMUNITY GAMES SUPPORT

You will use games to support participants to connect with others by building skills in communication, teamwork, problem solving and emotional regulation. Your goal is to work together to foster sustainable community participation.

Support workers are recommended to have working knowledge of the following games:

  • Dungeons and Dragons 5e (2014)
  • Magic the Gathering (Commander)
  • Warhammer 40k and/or Age of Sigmar
  • A selection of popular boardgames.

Community Games Support opportunities are generally scheduled in the evenings. Availability on Thursday and Friday evenings in particular is crucial for these roles.

INDEPENDENT LIVING SUPPORT

You will work directly with participants to identify and overcome barriers in daily living, by building skills in areas like: Meal Preparation, Housekeeping and Organisation or learning to use Public Transport.

A range of weekday availability is highly desirable for these roles - please include your current availability in your cover letter.

ABOUT YOU

This role is ideal for someone who is organised, reliable, enjoys building meaningful rapport, and is passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals to achieve their goals. We are seeking applicants who:

  • Are fluent in English, with excellent communication and rapport-building skills.
  • Demonstrate adaptability, initiative, and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Have professional or lived experience working with neurodivergent individuals.
  • Bring a growth mindset and a collaborative, goal-focused approach to support.

We encourage applications from those new to the industry or with minimal experience who are eager to grow and learn.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have:

  • Professional or personal experience supporting neurodivergent individuals.
  • Understanding of Neurodiversity and positive values regarding people with disabilities.
  • Current Blue Card or willingness to obtain a Blue Card.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • Open Drivers Licence and Comprehensively Insured Car.
