Apiarist (Beekeeper) / Labourer

Misty Tops Apiaries are currently seeking an experienced Beekeeper/Apiarist to join our team. The position is based at Kleinton (20 mins from Toowoomba).

The permanent position/s will involve all aspects of beekeeping. Based on a 38-hour week, night shifts and weekend work may be required during busy seasons.

The role involves around 70% field work camping in various areas of Qld and NSW and 30% shed/maintenance work.

Candidates with HC License and experience with long distance driving is favourable. Ability to use machinery e.g., Bobcat and forklift is an advantage.

Immediate Start:

Pay rate - Pastoral Award - Farm & Livestock hand based on experience.

To Be Successful in the role you will:

  • Be able to work flexible hours, in varying conditions including outdoor and away from home.
  • Manual lifting required- must be physically fit.
  • Not be allergic to bees
  • Have a current manual car driver's license.
  • Work as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of beekeeping is essential or a willingness to learn.
  • MUST live in Australia.

Roles are varied and will include:

  • Beehive care, management and maintenance
  • Bee removal
  • Shifting of beehives including delivery and pickup
  • Honey removal from hives
  • Assisting in honey extracting shed
  • Cleaning of extracting room
  • Wood working; repair of hives
  • General labouring
