Science Teacher
Swan Christian College is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join our Science Faculty team on a 1-year Fixed term contract commencing January 2026. The successful applicant will teach either Chemistry or Physics to Senior school students.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a collaborative and supportive team that values curiosity, critical thinking, and academic excellence in the sciences within a Christian learning environment.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Teach timetabled classes using varied, effective strategies suited to the subject and individual student needs, including providing remediation and extension activities.
- Maintain accurate and current records of student academic progress, monitor development, and support students in building study and organisational skills.
- Communicate with students, parents, and the Head of Learning Area through both formal and informal channels, such as emails, reports, and Parent-Teacher evenings.
- Perform pastoral care duties, demonstrating genuine concern for students' spiritual, emotional, social, and academic wellbeing, and communicate relevant concerns to appropriate College staff.
- Participate actively in College life through involvement in events, internal relief, supervision duties, staff meetings, and co-curricular activities.
- Uphold and model the College's Christian values and policies, demonstrating an understanding of its biblical foundations and educational mission.
Selection Criteria:
Essential:
- Demonstrate a personal commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and be an active member of a Christian church, living in alignment with the Association's Statement of Faith and Educational Objectives.
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with families, College staff, and SCEA Head Office.
- Display exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to make sound decisions under time pressure.
- Show initiative while also responding well to direction and feedback.
- Hold a current Working with Children Check and TRBWA registration.
Desirable:

- Familiarity with a variety of teaching and learning strategies to appropriately meet students' needs and course objective.
- Strategies used to communicate effectively with adults and students.
- Experience with a variety of suitable formative and summative assessment strategies with students.
