About the role

Due to organisational growth, we are seeking a BoSS Caseworker to join our multidisciplinary team based on the Sunshine Coast. This is a Full-Time, fixed term contract until 31st March 2025.

The Bail and Order Support Service (BoSS) helps young people aged 10–18 who are on bail or subject to court orders. As a Caseworker, you will provide tailored case management and practical support to minimise the risk of re-offending and empower young people to take their lives in a positive direction.

About the role

  • Assess needs, develop case plans, and review progress with young people
  • Ensure basic needs such as housing, income, and wellbeing are met
  • Support court attendance and engagement with legal representatives
  • Encourage re-engagement in education, training, or employment
  • Connect young people to health, mental health, drug and alcohol, and other tailored supports
  • Promote participation in positive activities and peer networks
  • Strengthen community, cultural, and family connections
  • Assist parents/carers to access services and build their capacity to support young people
  • Liaise with courts, Youth Justice, Child Safety, and other stakeholders for holistic support
  • Advocate strongly for young people and ensure their voices are heard
  • Maintain accurate case notes, reporting, and administrative records

This is an active and engaging role that includes outreach work in courts, detention centres, and watchhouses.

About you

You are enthusiastic about working with young people, display good judgement and initiative, and thrive as a proactive team member. You bring empathy and advocacy skills to your practice, while maintaining reliability and professionalism. You hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, or a related field, with at least three years' experience in a similar environment.

The Youth Advocacy Centre (YAC) is a well-respected community legal and social welfare agency with over 40 years' experience supporting young people across greater Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.

Our multidisciplinary team delivers legal, social welfare, and family support services to young people aged 10–18 who are involved in, or at risk of involvement in, the youth justice and/or child protection systems, and/or who may be homeless or at risk of homelessness.
