About the Role
As the
Manager, Data Engineering & AI
, you'll lead a growing team of data and AI professionals and be responsible for shaping the strategy and execution of data engineering and AI initiatives. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll guide the technical direction, foster a high-performance culture, and ensure that AI and analytics solutions deliver measurable business value.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and scale a high-performing team of data engineers and AI specialists.
- Own the end-to-end delivery of data and AI initiatives, from architecture through to deployment.
- Oversee the development and optimisation of data pipelines and AI infrastructure, supporting large-scale, real-time processing.
- Work across diverse data types including structured, unstructured, text, speech, and video.
- Collaborate with senior business stakeholders to translate challenges into data-driven, AI-powered solutions.
- Drive automation and optimisation of core business processes using AI/ML.
- Champion innovation by staying across emerging AI trends and leading rapid prototyping efforts.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a strategic and technical leader with a deep understanding of data engineering, AI, and scalable cloud-based architectures. You'll be just as comfortable leading people as you are diving into code or architecture discussions.
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency in Python and SQL for data engineering and model development.
- Experience working with both structured and unstructured data sets.
- Strong hands-on experience with GCP, DevOps pipelines, and scalable ML frameworks.
- Deep understanding of AI/ML infrastructure, LLMs, AI agents, and co-pilot technologies.
- Proven experience in rapid prototyping and proof-of-concept delivery.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Demonstrated experience in building and leading technical teams in high-growth environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage project delivery, prioritise effectively, and drive execution at scale.
