$95,000 to $105,000 plus superannuation

Responsibilities

  1. Build dry stone walls and structures.
  2. Work on preserving, maintaining, and repairing historic structures.
  3. Carry out repair works using both innovative and traditional techniques.
  4. Provide expertise and leadership within our company for all employees with regard to Dry Stone Walling and Landscape Architecture.
  5. Following client plans for wall and structure design and consulting with clients on those designs
  6. Constructing complicated dry stone retaining wall systems and structures.
  7. Read and interpret design briefs to ascertain height and dimension requirements.
  8. Using stonemasonry tools- chisels, bull points, tracers, chippers, string, frames, shovel, tape measure, hammer, level and sledge
  9. Constructing a stone foundation having regard to weight bearing issues
  10. Material Management (sorting and shaping stone)
  11. Following stone conservation techniques
  12. Adding curve and straight features
  13. Pillar construction stone, bench and arch construction
  14. Arrange for technologies to be tested and maintained to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  15. Create and use data from technical reports to organise routine maintenance of technologies.
  16. Be responsible for jobsite safety within OH&S guidelines with regard to Victorian White Card and associated SWMS having due regard to safe working practice, safety, personnel and the integrity of the plant.
  17. Identify for planning purposes the effects and impact on the schedule that any design, specification or field change will cause.
  18. Ensure contractor quality management compliance
  19. Reading project plans and sourcing material that will aid production
  20. Work with local heritage and restoration/conservational groups.

Skills and Experience Required

  • AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training with Dry Stone Walling, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) OR at least 8 years experience in Dry Stone Walling may substitute for the above qualifications if the experience was on site.
  • DSWA(GB) Craftsman Certification Scheme - Intermediate /Level 3 Certificate (or above) - Accredited by Lantra Awards.
  • DSWA(GB) Craftsman Certification must be held at the time of application.
  • Qualifications or a clear demonstration of an understanding of the principles of Landscape Architecture
  • Sound knowledge of business and the construction/landscaping industries
  • Knowledge and use of industry best practice landscape design software for design and presentation of jobs to clients
  • Advanced/expert level proficiency in landscape design software is required.
  • Great communication skills and prior business experience
  • Australian work authorisation is preferred but sponsorship may be considered for exceptional candidates.
