About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Academic Marker to join our English Department. In this role, you will assess student assignments and provide high-quality, constructive feedback that supports learning outcomes and aligns with Novelly's marking standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Mark and evaluate student essays, analytical responses, and creative writing pieces in accordance with Novelly's rubrics and academic guidelines.
• Deliver detailed and personalised written feedback to help students improve their writing and critical analysis skills.
• Maintain consistency, fairness, and accuracy in marking across all student work.
• Communicate with tutors and coordinators to ensure alignment of academic standards.
• Meet marking deadlines and handle student materials with confidentiality and integrity.

About You

Essential:

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in English, Literature, Education, Linguistics, or a related field.
• Proven experience in academic marking, tutoring, or teaching (secondary or tertiary level).
• Excellent command of written English and academic writing conventions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to provide clear, actionable feedback.

Desirable:

• Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D.) in English or Education.
• Knowledge of HSC, VCE, IB, NAPLAN and selective school entry exams or equivalent academic standards.
• Experience in online or remote learning environments.
