The Opportunity
This is a brand-new role that will report into the Head of Legal. The role will work closely with Legal Counsel (Franchising), which is also a new role. This means that you'll get to partner and learn alongside an experience legal professional and gain exposure to the end-to-end franchising transaction process. Both roles will be developed in tandem with each other, and you'll have the chance to really make this role your own. Are you ready to "rise" to the challenge and make a difference by:
- Assisting the Legal Counsel (Franchising) with transactional legal work across the bakery portfolio, including drafting and negotiating franchise agreements, occupancy licenses, surrenders, terminations, and breach notices.
- Managing end-to-end franchise transactions, including liaising with lawyers for both purchasers and vendors, coordinating settlements, and handling pre- and post-settlement tasks such as business name transfers.
- Performing franchise administration duties, including maintaining transaction reports, collecting documents from franchisees, and managing bank guarantees and PPSR registrations.
- Coordinating the return, issuance, and exchange of bank guarantees and other backend documentation for each franchise transaction.
- Monitoring key dates and workflows within the franchise development and legal teams to ensure all deadlines are met, particularly for bakery openings and franchise disclosure requirements.
- Ensuring timely and accurate execution of all legal and administrative aspects of franchise transactions to support business continuity and compliance.
Let's hear about you
You will be excited by the prospect of being involved in the entirety of the franchising transaction process and confident utilising your previous industry experience to flesh out this role in conjunction with the Legal Counsel (Franchising) to meet the business's needs. You will also demonstrate:
- At least 3 years of proven experience of successfully handling high-volume franchising transactions by a national retailer
- Good understanding of Franchising Code of Conduct requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to be able to operate at a strategic level, as well as enthusiasm to be involved in day-to-day matters.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong ability to prioritise and multiple demands and projects.
- Ability to influence and engage across a range of business areas and functions with differing issues, interests, and risks.
- A commitment to customer satisfaction to both internal and external customers.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaborate and work within a team environment.
