Job Description
At Navitas Skilled Futures the Pathway Guidance Advisor is responsible for the provision of student support services and high-quality vocational, education and training advice and guidance to Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) clients.
Key Result Areas
Client/Relationship Management
Ensures consistent delivery of services to clients by:
- positively shaping the clients' first impression of Navitas Skilled Futures
- liaising closely with the Academic Team Leader and training staff to determine the best pathway options for clients (including assisting with Pathways to Work program placements)
- liaising and working effectively with members of the educational and operational delivery team to provide timely and relevant assessment to clients on progress against their goals, as outlined in the Individual Pathway Guide (IPG)
- liaising with stakeholders, including jobactive providers, Centrelink, community organisations and local industry and mainstream service providers for potential pathway or referral service and employers for Pathways to Work program work experience placements
- supporting relationships, alliances and networks with external clients and bodies regarding assessment services, pathways counselling and referral information, as required.
Pathway Advice Services
Ensure pathways advice to meet client needs by:
- conducting program interviews and completing Individual Pathway Guide (IPG) or equivalent for clients
- conducting orientation for all new AMEP clients
- providing high-quality employment, vocational and educational pathways advice and information to AMEP clients
- referring clients with personal issues to appropriate service providers
- maintaining up-to-date materials and resources required for pathways information and client referrals
- working closely with the Operations and Academic Team Leaders to improve the pathway guidance services to meet client needs
- assisting with SRC meetings/Job Clubs/alumni meetings
- organising and delivering information sessions/workshops to clients, staff and external stakeholders
Reporting and Administration
Ensure pathway guidance services meet stakeholder and contract expectations by:
- promptly and accurately supplying assessment information to clients, as required
- maintaining accurate manual and electronic records of client assessments, interviews and progress against the client's IPG
- maintaining referral/stakeholder database
- ensuring legislative and contract privacy regulations are understood and implemented
- ensuring client records and personal information are stored securely according to the Navitas Skilled Futures privacy policy
- cooperating with other Navitas English Skilled Futures staff and external agencies in a way which ensures Navitas English Skilled Futures complies with privacy regulations.
Professional Development
Ensures currency of knowledge, skills, materials and modes of pathway guidance delivery and information by:
- maintaining up-to-date professional knowledge and skills in the area of pathways advice, settlement services, local and Commonwealth government services, employment pathways, the Vocational and Education Training (VET) sector, the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) providers and community ESL services in the region
- attending and contributing to site staff meetings to ensure clients' needs and interests continue to be addressed
- contributing to the development and implementation of annual professional and curricula development plans
- iaising with and actively promoting Navitas Skilled Futures programs, services and expertise in professional forums, and to organisation and clients, as required.
Qualifications
The candidate we seek will ideally have the following:
Essential:
- Demonstrated knowledge of settlement services, State and Commonwealth government services, the Vocational and Education Training (VET) sector, AMEP/SEE providers and other ESL services in the region.
- Knowledge of issues that impact on migrant and refugee settlement
- Relevant experience/knowledge in using technology, including a variety of career development related tools, email, Microsoft word, internet and databases
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in a multicultural learning environment
Desirable:
- Prior use of government program student databases
- Knowledge of the AMEP contract requirements and KPIs related to assessment and counselling.
