We are recruiting a HWSE Trainee to join the SunRice Group operations in implementing and coordinating safety activities across a number of operational sites in the Riverina.
Partnering with a strong operational team, this traineeship will go for 2 years, and you will learn how to promote a contemporary HWSE and risk management culture by assisting in the implementation of objectives, process improvement initiatives, risk management and HWSE reporting
You will learn how to:
Support business stakeholders in:
Developing safety improvement action plans through facilitated workshops.
Establish a safety activity calendar.
Identify opportunities for capital investment, including preparing / assisting in the development of business cases that clearly articulate where and why investment is required.
Support, coach and upskill operational leaders to enable good HSE practices within business.
Support site leadership to enact learnings from safety investigations and other HSE activities.
Assist in the preparation for audits, including SMETA and ISO45001, and enable a whole-company approach to audits.
Facilitate investigation into HSE incidents to enable learning.
Assist with the initial management of injuries in alignment with our worker-focused injury management processes.
Provide practical support to programs that improve the awareness and capability of the operations around the identification of critical risks and controls, and implementation of company-wide and local safe systems of work.
Establish monitoring processes to monitor and communicate the progress of business units against strategic safety initiatives, improvement plans, compliance activity plans, and other core safety activities.
Support the closure and checking of incident and injury investigations
Prepare relevant presentations, plans and management reports as required by Group Safety, local level permits and regulations.
Prepare reports and information for supported operations in understanding risks and requirements.
This role has been designed for candidates with little or no previous HSE experience but with a strong desire to learn. The successful candidate will learn over a 24 month period, and will be provided with a pathway to increase their skills and knowledge to prepare them for future HWSE or operational roles within the SunRice Group.
To be the successful applicant you will have:
At least 12 months of work experience within any field, including customer service, or a trade.
At least Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety, other qualifications can be helpful also (eg: ATAR, trade certificate
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
Valid and unrestricted Australian driver's license, with confidence in driving safely in rural and remote areas
Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills
A willingness to learn and be part of a wider team
Ability to organise and manage tasks in consultation with key stakeholders
Excellent problem-solving capability
Time management skills with the ability to prioritise key tasks
Be customer service focussed and able to work to deadlines
Have a continuous improvement mindset
Be collaborative with team and stakeholders as well as able to work autonomously
