Are you an experienced Local Government finance professional looking to step into a senior role with leadership responsibilities? The Shire of Bridgetown–Greenbushes is seeking a Senior Rates Officer to oversee and manage the Shire's rating functions, ensuring accurate billing, efficient collection, and compliance with legislation.
This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the end-to-end rating cycle, support and mentor staff, and play a key role in financial reporting and revenue forecasting for the Shire.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Managing the complete rating process, including property database maintenance, rate modelling, billing, concessions, and recovery processes.
- Ensuring compliance with the Local Government Act 1995, Valuation of Land Act 1978, and associated regulations.
- Performing reconciliations and contributing to budget preparation and financial reporting.
- Supervising and mentoring customer service staff, fostering a supportive and collaborative team environment.
- Responding to complex customer and stakeholder enquiries and maintaining strong external partnerships.
To be successful, you will bring:
- Sound knowledge of Local Government rating principles, practices, and legislation.
- Demonstrated experience in rating or financial services within Local Government.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports and liaise effectively with stakeholders.
- Experience in supervising or mentoring staff.
- A current C Class driver's licence.
