We are currently seeking expressions of interest from dedicated primary teachers (or those from similar professions) interested in private tutoring on the weekends.
Based at the newly built Keysborough Community Hub, this role gives you the opportunity to work directly and flexibly with the parents to create a learning environment that works for you and the students.
The role
As a private tutor you will:
· Tutor early year primary students in-person (two students only - aged 6 and 3)
· Work during weekends to agreed days, times, and durations that suit your preference (e.g. two 45-minute sessions, with 15-minute break between, every Sunday morning)
· Ensure the learning environment is safe and conducive to learning
· An initial focus on play-based learning - reading books, stories, phonics, alphabet, songs
· To a later focus on explicit learning - read, pronunciation, spelling, writing and grammar
· Coordinate directly with parents on curriculum planning and student progress
About you
To be successful in the role, you would have:
· Your own ABN, public liability insurance, and billing processes (preferred)
· Relevant tertiary qualifications in primary school, early childhood education or similar
· Possess an enthusiastic, engaging, patient and low-pressure style of tutoring
· Demonstrate experience teaching early childhood or primary school students
· Ability to design, implement and modify learning sessions (e.g. play-based vs explicit)
· Ability to tailor individual content sessions to meet student learning needs and goals
· Comfortable tutoring afterhours, in a private setting, and liaising with parents
· Conceptual knowledge and understanding of International Baccalaureate (PYP), Montessori programs an advantage (applying these frameworks not required)
