Supporting the First 2000 Days Framework – NSW Health & NSW Department of Education

The Brighter Beginnings initiative is an exciting district-wide collaboration between NSW Health and the NSW Department of Education, designed to ensure all 4-year-old children have access to high-quality, transdisciplinary health and development checks within their Early Childhood Education Centres (ECEC). We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated clinician to join our team in delivering these vital services across the region.

Whilst the base office location for this role is Moree Community Health Centre, we also encourage candidates living in other rural areas within the Hunter New England Local Health District to apply or contact us to discuss potential upcoming opportunities to join the team.

About Our Role:

As a Health & Development Clinician with Brighter Beginnings, you will:

  • Deliver transdisciplinary health and development checks to 4-year-old children attending preschools and ECEC settings.
  • Provide advice, support, and education to parents/carers and early childhood staff.
  • Work collaboratively with ECEC centres, health providers, and community stakeholders to ensure services are coordinated, efficient, and proactive.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the program, including refining work processes and the model of care.
  • Support the development of future clinicians through supervision of students and early-career staff as the initiative grows.
  • Travel across the Local Health District to deliver services in targeted areas.

About You:

You are a compassionate and motivated clinician who is passionate about improving the wellbeing and development of young children. You will bring:

  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to tailor your approach to different families and settings.
  • A collaborative mindset and a genuine commitment to working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues and education professionals.
  • An interest in developing your skills in project implementation, improvement science, and supervision.

A proactive, organised approach and the ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team culture.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a qualification in the following: Occupational Therapy and general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
