We are currently seeking 1 to 2 experienced casual Café Allrounders to join our team to work in a unique environment located in Avalon. We are located in a high security facility (NOT a corrections facility) where we have a brand new café that provides food, beverages and catering to the men and women working on the site.

There is no general public access to the site or the café

Unisus Group is Certified Social Enterprise leading the way in supported employment and training opportunities for vulnerable community members. Our ideal candidates will not only have a passion for quality customer service but also a willingness to share our vison of positive social outcomes. Our aim is to create a safe, fun and engaging workplace where everyone is valued for their strengths and supported in areas that may need extra attention whilst providing outstanding quality food and service.

In addition to our Avalon café we also operate 4 other outlets in Melbourne with more expansion in the pipeline however the brand new commercial kitchen and on site café at Avalon is the epicentre of our operations. All food including sandwiches, wraps, rolls, focaccias, pasta's, wet dishes, cakes & slices, daily specials etc.. are prepared and distributed from Avalon to the other sites servicing up to 1500 customers per day. This is a " all hands on board" job where you will be an integral part of our core team that will include customer service, food prep in the kitchen (supervised by our chef), dishes/cleaning and catering service and duties. Experience in a similar fast paced role would be an advantage but is not essential.

Duties will include -

  • Barista duties including coffee making and machine cleaning
  • Fast and friendly customer service
  • Cash handling and EFTPOS operations
  • Food preparation and presentation including quality control
  • Preparing and presenting catering orders
  • Cleaning including dishes and floors
  • Follow food safety policies and procedures

The location of this kitchen and café is remote within a highly secured compound with 24 hour manned security, it is not accessible to the general public and services only those who work at the site. There is no public transport available to this site but there is plenty of free onsite parking. Due to the high level of security access is only available to people who have completed an onsite induction, hold current photo identification and provided a employment police clearance.

This unique casual opportunity is a Monday – Friday position with no split shifts, no night work, no weekends or public holidays shifts making it perfect for those seeking a more structured work/life balance. Operational hours are between 5.30am-2.30pm. Approx hours per week.
