We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our Central Sydney team, based out of our Rhodes office, supporting families across the Ryde, Parramatta, the Inner West, Georges River, and Sutherland areas.
You will provide person and family-centred intervention and support for children and young people with disabilities or development delay, and their families. You will provide supports flexibly at Lifestart sites, in homes, schools, the community and online.
We have both full and part-time opportunities available, with flexible working to suit your lifestyle - it is highly desirable if you are available to work until 6pm.
Responsibilities include:
- Work alongside children, young people and their families to set goals, develop strategies and support their implementation
- Empower our clients and families to develop independence in areas such as self-care and everyday routines, sensory processing, play and motor skills, emotional regulation and inclusion in chosen activities and settings
- Opportunity to further develop your specialist areas of interest such as prescription of Assistive Technology and minor Home Modifications, Sensory Processing and Emotional Regulation
- Opportunity to support families through group programs such as Toilet Training workshops, Transition to School and High School, Secret Agent Society, playgroups and other interest-based groups
- Mixed caseload of NDIS and grant funded supports with realistic and achievable targets.
- Opportunity to supervise students or junior clinicians
- Qualification in Occupational Therapy with current AHPRA registration and a minimum 4 years' professional experience, including working with children and young people
- Experience and/or interest in using person and family centred, strength-based approaches
- Experience in prescribing assistive technology (desirable)
- Highly organised, and able to work with technology in a changing environment
- Understanding of inclusion, cultural sensitivities and the needs of diverse communities
- Fully vaccinated for the Covid-19 Virus (3 doses) or accepted medical exemption certificate
- Current driver's licence and use of own car
