Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Canberra for a Cyber Security Engineer. The Cyber Security Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the security of our clients' IT environments by assessing vulnerabilities, implementing security measures, and monitoring for security breaches. Daily tasks include application security management, network and information security, and conducting regular security assessments.

This isn't your typical tiered SOC role. You'll be joining a fast moving team where your experience and initiative will directly influence how we deliver security outcomes for our clients. You'll own key security applications, improve operational maturity, and act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in at least two platforms.

What You'll Do

  • Act as the SME for two core security tools or applications
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments using tools such as Tenable, and help drive remediation
  • Produce clear and concise timeline and log-based reporting tailored to executive level audiences
  • Help standardize and improve our toolsets or offerings
  • Contribute to resourcing plans by identifying task ownership, gaps, and areas for escalation or automation

About You

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on SOC experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are a plus
  • Comfortable working with vulnerability management platforms like Tenable or similar
  • Skilled in delivering security reporting that balances technical detail with executive readability
  • Bonus: MSP experience is a plus, but not essential
  • Proficient in Application Security, Network Security, and Information Security
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and on-site in Canberra
