Dental Assistant and Receptionist

Location: Collins Street, Melbourne CBD

Hours: Flexible Part-Time (2-4 days per week)

Our Collins Street dental clinic is seeking a friendly and highly motivated Dental Assistant and Receptionist superstar Our new superstar will join our passionate team on a part-time basis 2-4 days per week. 

Our clinic is based in the heart of the Melbourne CBD and only a 5-minute walk from Flinders St Station. We have built an exceptional reputation within the community over the past 30 years focusing on general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry.

About the Role:

This dynamic dual role combines dental assisting with reception and administrative duties. You'll be working closely with both our clinical team and patients to ensure smooth operations and excellent care at all stages of treatment.

Dental Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide chairside assistance to hygienists and dentists during general dental procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile environment by sterilising instruments and equipment and adhering to strict infection control guidelines.
  • Set up treatment rooms, prepare materials, and assist with patient comfort throughout procedures.
  • Support the clinical team in patient education, ensuring they are well-informed about their treatments and aftercare.

Receptionist Responsibilities:

  • Greeting Patients: Welcome patients warmly, offering a friendly and professional first point of contact. Provide excellent customer service, addressing patient inquiries and ensuring a smooth patient flow.
  • Patient Coordination: Manage patient appointments, include booking, rescheduling, and confirming appointments efficiently while maximising the dentist's schedule.
  • Clinical Liaison: Coordinate with the clinical team to ensure patient charts, treatment plans, and follow-up care are organised and up-to-date.
  • Ongoing Care: Manage patient follow-ups and assist with continuing treatment plans, ensuring patients receive timely care.
  • Administration Tasks: Support day-to-day administrative duties, including filing, patient referrals, preparing records, and assisting with other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Billing and Payments: Process patient payments, including handling insurance claims.

The successful candidate will have a minimum 1 year of experience as both a dental assistant and receptionist in a dental practice in Australia, and be available for an immediate start. 

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year experience as a dental assistant and receptionist in an Australian dental practice.
  • Strong understanding of dental procedures, infection control, and patient care protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and a confident, energetic approach to work.
  • Exceptional organisational and administrative abilities, including scheduling, managing appointments, and handling billing and insurance claims.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset, using initiative to contribute and support the practice.
  • A positive, professional attitude with a strong commitment to providing quality care to our patients.
  • Friendly, personable, with a sense of humour to match
