Kindy Director

Ashgrove West Kindy is seeking a compassionate, strategic, and highly organised Non-Contact Director to lead our community kindergarten through its next chapter. This newly structured role focuses on leadership, governance, compliance, operational oversight, and community engagement. Central to this role is fostering a warm, inclusive environment that supports families and ensures every child enjoys a positive, enriching Kindy experience.

We are a C&K-affiliated, not-for-profit kindergarten with a proud legacy of nurturing children in a play-based, inclusive environment. We operate a double-unit program for 4–5-year-olds, with 88 children across four classes per week, and run an outside hour's care and vacation care program. Our dedicated educators and volunteer Management Committee work in close partnership to uphold the highest standards in early childhood education and community engagement.

Role Overview

The Non-Contact Director will:

·       Lead the strategic and operational management of the Centre in accordance with AWK/C&K policies and governance standards

·       Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and early years frameworks

·       Oversee HR processes including recruitment, rostering, performance management, and staff development while fostering a collaborative workplace culture

·       Maintain high standards of reporting and workplace health and safety

·       Liaise with families, external consultants, and regulatory bodies as required

·       Attend periodic committee meetings and provide operational reports

·       Drive compliance documentation and strategic decision-making

·       Engage in ongoing professional development and sector initiatives that strengthen leadership capacity and community impact

This is a non-teaching leadership role, ideal for someone with strong leadership, governance, and early childhood management experience. You'll be supported by a proactive Management Committee and Business Manager, with clear governance frameworks and collaborative decision-making. Key Selection Criteria

·       Proven leadership experience in early childhood or education.

·       Strong understanding of compliance and governance principles, including the National Quality Standard and relevant legislation

·       Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

·       Ability to foster a respectful, inclusive, and safe workplace culture

·       Experience working with volunteer committees or boards (desirable)

·       Bachelor of Education – Early Childhood (or recognised equivalent)

·       Current Blue Card or exemption card, and Child Protection certificate (or willingness to obtain)

·       First Aid/CPR including Asthma and Anaphylaxis certification (or willingness to obtain)

Position Details

·       Start Date: January 2026 (negotiable)

·       Contract: Permanent part-time

·       Hours: 0.6 FTE (days negotiable)

·       Salary: Aligned with AWK EBA — above award and highly competitive within the sector

·       Location: Onsite

·       Entitlements: Includes paid recess leave, annual leave loading, and relevant allowances in line with sector standards
