Senior Mining Engineer

Talisman is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer to provide premium consulting services to our global mining clients.

These roles will provide technical and operational advice to our expanding mining advisory Clients and deliver studies that provide tangible, deliverable value.  This role will deliver high-quality technical solutions, strategic advice, and project execution support to mining clients across a broad range of commodities.  This role requires a strong blend of technical acumen, stakeholder engagement, project management, and mentoring capabilities.

These are permanent, full-time roles with a flexible work style and are based in Brisbane, Queensland.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and lead studies across the mining value chain including scoping, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies and operational readiness.
• Design and optimise open cut mine plans and schedules using industry software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Spry, etc.).
• Perform pit optimisation, scheduling, haulage analysis, benchmarking and equipment selection studies.
• Develop and/or audit at varied planning horizons from Asset Life of Mine to Site Weekly Plans.
• Evaluate financial models and provide insights that support due diligence and client decision-making.
• Facilitate and support business improvement initiatives with Clients from ideation through to execution support.
• Work closely with clients to understand needs, define scopes, and provide tailored solutions.

About You

Your industry knowledge and areas of expertise will include.

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or similar related degree
• Minimum 5 years' experience in open cut mining (coal or metals).
• The ability to communicate complex solutions to a variety of stakeholders, from technical to non-technical.
• Design and optimise mine plans, and be adept at production modelling.
• Proficiency in the use of various mine design and scheduling software such as Spry, Vulcan and Deswik.
• Strong organisational, communication and planning skills coupled with positive safety leadership skills and safety behaviour.
• Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team
