Programmer - Gameplay

Reach Game Studios is looking for a talented gameplay programmer (Unreal Engine) to join and lead the gameplay team for the studio's upcoming online FPS RPG, GLORY.

Responsibilities:

As a Gameplay Programmer you will be responsible for:

  • Working with the Design Director to shape key gameplay systems (like inventory, combat, game modes, movement, abilities etc.) and implement them in code, ensuring they are secure and work with our backend systems.
  • Implement and document changes, patch notes for work assigned, etc.
  • Liaise with the design team to implement changes.
  • Work within a small multi-disciplined group on assigned, related and inter-dependant tasks.
  • Maintain technical documentation.
  • Work with the backend team to assist with implementation and ensure game code is consistant and compatible with backend systems.
  • Work within live and test realms to implement (and patch) game.
  • Design and implement tools that non-technical team members can use to interface with design modules.
Requirements:

For this role the ideal candidate will possess:

  • A portfolio of prior work (AAA, independent, or Higher Education projects, etc) where the candidate has worked in a programming/engineering capacity.
  • C++ Experience a must.
  • Familiarity with the Unreal Engine, particularly the Kismet and Blueprint systems. preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent team-working and leadership skills.
  • Familiar with FPS, RPG and MMO-like mechanics and an understanding of how these games function from a technical perspective.
  • A passion for how games tick, particularly shooters and RPGs.
Remuneration:

The position is currently a contract royalty-based position, with view to full-time employment post-launch. Contract amount is competitive and negotiable.

Location:

While we prioritize Australian/New Zealand applicants, we are a remote studio and consider international applications.
