About the Job

While our work is highly seasonal (with the peak usually between November and March each year), we do hire applicants from the talent pool all year round. During the October - March peak season, we recruit heavily to support our operations and offer competitive pay (including overtime/weekend penalty rates).

Working hours can extend outside "regular office hours" including afternoons, evenings, and weekends (overtime rates and penalty rates apply). There is a need to be flexible with most of our shifts allocated at short notice.

Job duties include:

  1. Sorting, grading, trimming, washing and packaging lobsters.
  2. Baskets – weighing, tipping, moving, returning and preparation for loading trucks.
  3. Feeding graders, stun tank and packers.
  4. Checking tanks – removing weak lobsters; notifications of these removals.
  5. Ticketing, sealing, taping and stamping polystyrene boxes.
  6. Cleaning workplace / holding tanks / freezers / waste bins etc; and
  7. Removal of wastes.

For those who show an interest, there are structured training and competency assessments to progress to higher-level Seafood Process Attendant grades and to other positions within the organisation.

Essential Job Requirements

  1. Safety– A desire to want to work in a safe environment, to be safety conscious. This position WILLinvolve contact with live seafood and shellfish products.
  2. People– The ability to deal with situations calmly and diplomatically which allows open communication and rapport at all levels of the organisation.
  3. Technical– Ability to follow and give instructions in English. Basic numeracy, literacy and reasoning are also required.

Desirable

  1. Experience– worked in a light-to-medium industry production process workplace (preference given to seafood/meat/dairy).
