What you'll be doing
The Sustaining NSW Families (SNF) program is a structured home visiting program for children and families from pregnancy to 2 years of age.
The Psychologist/Senior Psychologist/Clinical Psychologist is responsible for providing a high-quality clinical expertise, support and specialist consultation, to the nurse led multi-disciplinary team and clients within the SNF Program.
Selection Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications as a Psychologist, Senior Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist, with professional registration/membership as per the Health and Community Employees Psychologists (State) Award, plus significant clinical experience in working with parents and families with infants experiencing complex parental psychosocial and mental health problems in the perinatal period. Noting a minimum general registration period of 3 years is highly desirable - SEE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.
- Extensive experience in working with parents and families with infants experiencing complex parental psychosocial and mental health problems in the perinatal period with demonstrated knowledge of the impact of psychosocial and mental health problems on parenting, parent – infant relationships and infant development.
- Demonstrated advanced therapeutic skills in conducting complex psychosocial assessments and counselling with the ability to respond to the needs of vulnerable families (e.g. Culturally and Linguistically Diverse - CALD) in stressful situations.
- Extensive demonstrated clinical experience providing clinical consultation and facilitating case review, in the context of family centred casework within a community based multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development, quality improvement and evidence-based practice.
- Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with high level time management, organisational skills and computer literacy.
- Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
