AKD's Caboolture sawmill is strategically located between the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane's northside, forming part of AKD's leading national operations.
AKD are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team in the position of Logyard Supervisor reporting to the Green Process Manager. This key role is responsible for leading a team, fostering a zero-harm safety culture, and delivering strong performance outcomes through effective leadership and operational control.
The successful candidate will oversee the safe and efficient management of all Logyard operations — including bark, chip, and sawdust handling, debarker operations, log grabs, and truck and log bay movements. They will create an engaging, high-performing work environment that supports individual development and operational excellence.
This role will ideally suit a proactive and career-focused individual with experience in sawmilling, forestry, or production environments, who thrives on leading people and driving results. This position represents a significant leadership opportunity within AKD's operational framework.
Key duties & responsibilities:
Manage and organise all Caboolture Debarker activities and processes to achieve safety, quality, cost and throughput targets designated in Caboolture's Operations Business PlanLead, manage, and continually develop personnel who report to this position to excel and develop and lead operators who report to this position to function as a high performing teamAccountable for the safe and efficient management of all Logyard activities; including residues handling (bark, chip, sawdust), supervision of debarker employees, coordination of log grabs and truck movements, and maintenance of roadways and yard infrastructure.Provide coordination between our Forestry and Green Mill teams to ensure our supply and inventory meet the needs of the siteManage and monitor the sites residues to ensure we meet compliance and manage constraints from these products. Monitor and assess operational activity, identifying opportunities for increased volume, recovery and valueEnsure all team members are appropriately qualified to perform their roles including standard operating procedure compliance, are licensed and trained to carry out their role requirementsActively support and liaise with maintenance, electrical and other service provider staff to enhance performanceIf you believe you have the drive, experience and are performance driven, then please click the 'Apply; and attach your cover letter and resume.
