INFRASTRUCTURE ENGIEER

The role

As part of the Infrastructure and Deployment team within our Civil Solutions group, the Infrastructure Engineer will play a key role in assembling, deploying, configuring, commissioning and sell-off of complex ICT infrastructure components to meet requirements for current and future Electronic Security projects, centred around Saab's OneView physical security information management system.

You will work closely with the Software and Systems Engineering team members in support of achieving project and internal requirements and goals.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Drive deployment of discrete ICT infrastructure components, utilising COTS software and hardware
  • Deliver discreet infrastructure components in accordance with approved reference designs by others, and by utilising knowledge and skills as a SME
  • Provide review and feedback of reference designs and suggest other improvements (e.g. efficiency, solution cost, TCO) to ensure best outcomes for the organisation
  • Proactively progress on allocated work, and contribute to and coordinate with others to ensure the successful delivery of services.
  • Promote a "Customer First" culture within the team to ensure best outcomes for internal and external customers.
  • Estimate, plan and proactively status progress on allocated work, and contribute to and coordinate with others to ensure the successful delivery of services
  • Provide technical review of documents, configurations and other artefacts in accordance with company or project requirements
  • Create documentation to capture design decisions and implementation details, to ensure the consistent delivery of infrastructure components to others
  • Travel for deployment and commissioning of project infrastructure during project delivery phases.
  • Develop strong working relationships with and assist Saab Project, Software, Field Support and Engineering Teams as required to balance workloads across the group.
About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Experience in maintaining technical documentation relating to the Civil Solutions DevOps tools and cloud platform.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of ongoing modernisation and R&D projects.
  • Deploy software in support of trials and demonstrations to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the integration of Civil Solutions software with third party software.
  • Estimate, plan and proactively status progress on allocated work, and contribute to and coordinate with others to ensure the successful delivery of services.
  • Provide support to others as part of a rotating on-call roster, including out of hours on-call (optional).
  • Comply with legislation and Company policies, processes and instructions, including those relating to non-discrimination, safety and duty of care and the quality management system.
  • Travel interstate and overseas will be required. Attendance and long-term work at sites such as active correctional or detention facilities will be required. A Class C Driver's License is essential.

Technical requirements

  • Install and configure networking infrastructure, network admission control software and hardware and support Windows Server products
  • Manage firewall and security products
  • Manage and support server-based Virtualisation Solutions
  • Install and support Backup and Recovery Solutions
  • Workstation Configuration and Management
  • OEM Software Configuration Management and Licensing
  • Working knowledge of Solarwinds and other Infrastructure management products
  • Configure and support PCoIP, Thin clients
  • SNMP trap monitoring
  • License management and distribution (all sites and internal)
  • Configuration and change management principles
  • Knowledge of Release and Deployment management practices
  • Knowledge of engineering principles in relation to verification and testing
  • Working knowledge to manage and execute automation and utility scrips

Educational Qualifications and Professional Memberships

  • Relevant Engineering degree
  • Construction Industry White Card (or ability to obtain one).
  • Security Installers License for Australia and New Zealand (or ability to obtain one).

This role requires Interstate as well as overseas travel to New Zealand few times in a year

As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline/NV1/NV2 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
